The Texas
Association of Residential Care Communities (TARC) is a 501(c)(6)
Texas non-profit corporation, Federal ID No. 75-2477370. We are
a voluntary membership organization representing providers of Assisted
Living, Nursing Homes, and Retirement Community Living. Our members
are large and small, proprietary and non-profit. The Association
concentrates on three major areas:
Legislation:
Our chief lobbyist has over 30 years experience effectively lobbying
the Texas Legislature. We maintain a consistent year around dialog
and contact with members in order to build relationships and educate
them on industry practices and problems.
Regulations:
We interact on a consistent basis with the Department of Aging
and Disability Services (DADS) and the Health and Human Services
Commission, working on language in regulations and practices.
TARC members are appointed to advisory committees within
the Departments.
Communication:
We publish a monthly "Business Update" which providers
the members with an up-to-date resume of what's going on in the
industry. In times of crisis or emergency, we send "Special
Bulletins." During the legislative session, we send regular
resumes of all of the bills we are working on and their up-to-the-minute
status. Members are able to communicate directly with the executive director at any time via telephone or email.
